Urobuchi Gen

The Guest of Honor for Desucon Frostbite 2015 will be writer Gen Urobuchi.

Urobuchi begun as a writer for computer games, and after that he's been behind anime, visual novels, light novels and even one season of Kamen Rider tokusatsu series. His most famous work by far is the magical girl series Puella Magi Madoka Magica and it's following movies, published by the studio Shaft in 2011. He is also known for the Psycho-Pass anime series, the visual novel Saya no Uta and multiple Fate/Zero series and productions, among other things.

Urobuchi is known for his tragical, dark style, for which he has been dubbed "Urobucher" by his fans. Urobuchi doesn't consider his works as brutal as many others, because all of his characters have different kinds of flaws that he strives to bring to light. Urobuchi often gives his characters atypical, rare and uncharacteristic names to make the readers and watchers get interested in the characters and to make online searches about the easier. He holds some kind of similarity to each of his characters, so that he wouldn't be too disconnected to his works.

Professional idols for Urobuchi are Ichiro Itano and Yosuke Kuroda, and he also holds the horror writer Stephen King as one of his inspirations. Urobuchi is currently working on the mecha anime Aldnoah.Zero that began in July and just saw the end of it's first season. He has also written the movie Rakuen Tsuihou - Expelled From Paradise, that premieres in November 2014. Previous visitors of Desucon Seiji Mizushima and Tomoki Kyooda have also worked on the movie.
